Flickr offers several choices to upload a single image or batch photos. This service provides the following tools: Flickr Uploadr for Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98, Flickr Uploadr for Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, 1001 for Mac OS X and iPhoto plugin for Mac OS X.
You can also upload to Flickr via Windows XP Explorer, by email or camera–phone using ShoZu or NOKIA Lifeblog. While uploading you can add tags and choose the privacy settings of who will be able to view your photos.
Through Flickr, you can create photosets, which are online photo albums, so others can easily browse your pictures. Or, view the photos as a slideshow. You can also develop a personal profile and even create groups.
This service has a public database of photos and images arranged into categories such as “Most Views”, “Most Favorited”, “Most Comments” and “Most Interesting”.
Flickr has two account options, the Free Account and the Pro Account; however, you can browse the site and check out the photographs without creating an account.
The Free Account includes 20 MB monthly upload limit, three photosets, photostream views limited to the 200 most recent images and storage of smaller (resized) images.
The Pro Account includes two GB monthly upload limit, unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited photosets, permanent archiving of high–resolution original images, the ability to replace a photo and ad–free browsing and sharing.
Ease of Use of the Service:
One of our reviewers was able to easily sign up and create an account; however, another had a frustrating time trying to sign into Flickr. The problem came with trying to create a user id and password.
Once you have established an account, the service is straightforward and easy to navigate.
